Understanding the Orders Report

Overview

The Orders Report provides a detailed, order-level view of every sale processed through your connected sales channels. It combines sales, operational, and financial data into a single report, allowing you to understand exactly how each individual order contributes to your business.

Unlike the Sales Report, which provides an overall financial summary, or the Contribution Report, which aggregates profitability, the Orders Report lets you drill down into the numbers behind every transaction.

The Orders Report answers the question:

"What happened on each individual order?"

What Does the Orders Report Show?

Each row in the Orders Report represents a single customer order and includes all the financial data associated with that transaction.

Depending on your integrations and configuration, the report can include:

Order Information

  • Order Number
  • Order Date & Time
  • Store
  • Integration
  • Sales Channel (Online or POS)
  • Store Tags
  • Currency
  • Number of Items

This provides quick visibility into where each order originated.

Sales Information

Each order includes important sales metrics such as:

  • Total Order Value
  • VAT
  • Discounts
  • Refunded Amount
  • Revenue (Excluding VAT)

These values show how the customer's payment contributes to your revenue.

Operational Costs

The Orders Report also includes costs associated with fulfilling each order, including:

  • Shipping Fees
  • Handling Fees
  • Stock Transfer Fees
  • Courier Collection Fees
  • Platform Fees
  • Platform Fee Percentage
  • Transaction & Payment Fees

This gives complete visibility into the operational cost of processing each order.

Product Costs

Where configured, Finzite automatically includes:

  • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
  • Fulfilment Costs

These costs help determine the profitability of every order.

Gross Profit

The Orders Report calculates Gross Profit by deducting your direct product and operational costs from revenue before additional variable costs are applied.

This provides an early indication of profitability for each order.

Variable Costs

If you have configured Variable Cost Rules, the Orders Report will automatically display these costs against every qualifying order.

Examples include:

  • Fulfilment Variable Costs
  • Transaction & Platform Variable Costs
  • Royalty Costs
  • Additional COGS Rules
  • Other Custom Variable Costs

This allows you to see exactly which automated rules have been applied to each order.

Report Filters

The Orders Report includes several filters to help you analyse your data.

You can filter by:

  • Date Range
  • Integration
  • Sales Channel (Online or POS)
  • Store Tags
  • POS Locations

You can also search for a specific order using the Order Search field.

These filters make it easy to locate individual orders or analyse performance across different stores, integrations, locations, and channels.

Why Use the Orders Report?

The Orders Report provides complete transparency into every transaction processed by your business.

Instead of only seeing totals, you can investigate individual orders and understand exactly how each financial figure has been calculated.

This makes it an invaluable tool for finance teams, operations teams, customer support, and business owners.

Business Benefits

The Orders Report helps businesses to:

  • Investigate individual customer orders.
  • Understand how revenue is calculated for each transaction.
  • Review discounts and refunds.
  • Analyse shipping, platform, and transaction costs.
  • Validate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
  • Review automated Variable Cost Rules applied to orders.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies in financial reports.
  • Export detailed order-level financial data for further analysis.

How the Orders Report Works with Other Reports

Each report in Finzite serves a different purpose.

Sales Report

Provides a high-level summary of your sales performance.

It answers:

"How much did I sell?"

Contribution Report

Aggregates all revenue and costs to calculate business profitability.

It answers:

"How much did I actually make?"

Orders Report

Provides the detailed transaction-level data behind those reports.

It answers:

"What happened on every individual order?"

Together, these three reports provide complete visibility into your business—from individual transactions through to overall profitability.

Summary

The Orders Report is your detailed transaction ledger within Finzite. It combines sales, operational costs, product costs, and automated variable costs into a single order-level view, allowing you to understand exactly how every order impacts your business.

Whether you're investigating a single order, validating financial data, or analysing operational costs, the Orders Report provides the detail needed to make informed business decisions with confidence.
