Returns represent the value of goods refunded or credited to customers after a sale has occurred. Under IFRS 15 and ASC 606, expected and actual returns are recognised as reductions of revenue because the entity no longer has an enforceable right to consideration for the returned goods. Returns therefore reduce recognised revenue in the period they occur.
